Workshop internal communication

Basics of internal communication

When working with the exchange of information it is sometimes useful to divide the total communication into internal and external communication, for practical reasons. In brief, internal communication refers to exchange of information inside the organisation, whereas external communication refers to exchange of information with the outside world, i.e. everything outside the organisation. External communication could be communicating with the public, journalists, with union representatives or NGOs, to give a few examples.

The internal communication can be formal or informal, specific to a unit, or general information for the entire authority or a group of authorities.
