Handbook

A handbook for civil servants working with communication has been produced: “Public Communications in a Democratic Society”. The handbook comprises the knowledge achieved in the project. It is the first of its kind in Ukraine and covers a range of different areas, such as:

·       Fundamental principles of communication in a democratic society

·       How to apply strategic and planned communication theory in a dialogue with the public

·       Basic objectives and functions of Media and Public Communications departments at Executive Government bodies

·       The concept of public oversight

·       Methods for holding public consultations

·       Organization of Public Councils

·       How to provide information services to the public

·       How to perform explanatory work of Government decisions towards the public

·       How to develop and use information and presentation materials, including websites

·       How to handle protest actions near governmental buildings

·       How to interact with the media

·       How to handle information in a crises situation

Each chapter also contains examples from different market economy democracies.
